The sun comes late to Mendocino:<\/p>\n
Stumbling in over the mountains<\/p>\n
Seeking therapeutic waters.<\/p>\n
It hovers over the Pacific,<\/p>\n
Contemplating, perhaps, a bath drawn too coldly.<\/p>\n
Reaching its fingers to test the waters,<\/p>\n
They shiver upon the surface,<\/p>\n
And a day\u2019s labor cannot produce a simmer.<\/p>\n
Knowing it can wait but cannot procrastinate,<\/p>\n
At evening it dives in,<\/p>\n
Shuddering across the horizon.<\/p>\n
